Anyone who has had open heart surgery please find the documentary called PUMPHEAD its about patients who have been put on bypass machine and potential memory loss/ confusion that can occur post operation. Its by the Australian Heart Foundation. I have PUMPHEAD and its over whelming at times. But after watching PUMPHEAD its a bit more easier to manage after it being explained.

I'm listening to Dennis' book on audio right now and it's really fascinating and quite entertaining. I put DD up there in the pantheon of great bassists who influenced my playing and who i spent hours listening to and trying to learn from. It included most of the usual suspects - McCartney, Entwhistle, Geddy, John Paul Jones, and a few others who never get mentioned - Joe Osborne, Leon Wilkeson, Dave Brown of Santana, Kenny Gradney of Little Feat, and many others. Gradney taught be about laying down a simple line with consistency and confidence, and that what you don't play is as importance as what you do play. Thinking back on all the years i spent huddled over a turntable with my bass, trying to learn some killer bass part, makes me real nostalgic. I recently had to vacate my apartment and move into assisted living, forcing me to sell off most of my worldly goods including my stereo and worst of all, my beloved record collection. Thankfully I was able to keep my basses but at another location so i can't even get my hands on them.

He is one lucky guy. I’m an OR nurse so I know exactly what this is. I also, coincidentally, had an aortic root aneurysm. Mine didn’t rupture though. It was found by accident and repaired 8 years later. I have a mechanical heart valve as a result. Being in good physical condition for an operation like this makes a huge difference too. But he is a very lucky guy.

Roger was the backbone of Heart. When he left it's no coincidence that the music suffered greatly. Yes, they had the big hits in the mid-80's, but look at who wrote them...nobody in the band

Roger was the backbone of Heart. It's unfortunate that he isn't better known because his playing is some of the best known in rock music. Magic Man and Barracuda riffs...come on...those are legendary!

I never knew that dick wagner adn steve hunter played on that track but I'm not too surprised. The guitar work is fantastic, among my favorites.

“Things From England”! Brings a tear to my eye. WNEW-FM-Friday afternoons with Scott Muni, aka “Scotso”, aka “The Professor.” I was a devotee of that station from the late sixties on. “Things From England” was such a great way to get ready weekend gigs. That station was a vital part of my musical education. What an incredible collection of on-air personalities. I really miss those days. Thank you, Steve, for bringing up a wonderful memory.

During the recording of “Get Your Wings” Joe & Brad were still developing as guitar players. They were struggling a bit with their guitar parts for TKAR so Producer Jack Douglas looked for outside help to bring the song to life. Legend has it that Joe and Brad were not happy about the idea but Steven was all for it. I can remember watching Aerosmith perform the song on The Midnight Special and the lead guitar parts that Joe played live were abbreviated versions of what were on the record. There were also additional parts on the “Wings” record that Dick Wagner played on but this was kept secret as Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter did not receive any credits for their contributions. RIP Dick Wagner, gone but not forgotten.

I remember seeing an article about these guys and reprinted it in the pages of Alice's Bloody Rag. Years later i got to hang out with Roxie (and Eric Singer) in Elmira, NY before an Alice Cooper concert (1st show if the Brutal Planet tour). We played football in the parking lot behind the auditorium before the show.
